Sleep and Behaviour
Tues 21 Oct at 7pm
Dr Carrie Tooley
If you have had a poor night's sleep, do you struggle to be on top form? Most of us feel physically sluggish, cognitively slow and emotionally less robust when we are sleep deprived. Why would the pets we work with be any different? Sleep is hugely important in physical and emotional health and has a significant impact on behaviour. This talk will look into the current evidence we have regarding companion animal sleep and the impact it has on behaviour. We will discuss a practical toolkit for assessing sleep duration and quality in dogs and cats and consider the different ways clinical animal behaviourists can optimise sleep health in the dogs and cats they work with.

We will take a look at species-specific needs, a logical approach to the small furry clinical behavioural presentation and the toolkit we can delve into for these cases.
